The STIHL HSA 150 R is a powerful, battery-operated hedge trimmer designed specifically for professional landscapers and garden maintenance specialists tackling the most demanding hedge-cutting tasks. Comparable in performance to its petrol-powered counterpart, the HS 87, this trimmer is part of the STIHL AP System and is powered by a 36V lithium-ion battery. It delivers consistent performance with low vibration and minimal noise, making it an excellent choice for use in noise-sensitive areas.
Engineered for heavy-duty cutting, pruning, and hedge reduction, the HSA 150 R features a single-sided cutting blade with an integrated deflector for efficient trimming and effective debris management. The tool offers three selectable cutting speeds - 2,800, 3,000, or 3,200 strokes per minute, allowing users to adjust performance based on the hedge type and branch thickness.
A key benefit is the integrated battery slot, which eliminates the need for external battery belts or backpacks - simply insert a compatible AP battery and get to work. The ergonomic rotating handle improves manoeuvrability, making it easier to trim hedges from a variety of angles, including tops, sides, and hard-to-reach areas.
To ensure optimal performance in all conditions, the HSA 150 R is IPX4-rated for water resistance, enabling safe operation in wet or unpredictable weather. The anti-jam function automatically reverses blade direction if the trimmer becomes stuck on thicker branches, helping to maintain productivity. When paired with the recommended AP 200 S battery, the tool offers excellent balance and comfort, reducing fatigue during prolonged use.
The cutting system includes a 75 cm (30") blade with 30 mm tooth spacing - ideal for precise pruning and hedge reduction, even when dealing with mature or woody growth. Double-edged blades are equipped with a protective stop and anti-cut bar for safe, clean cuts.
With a power output of 0.46 kW and a power consumption of 650 W, the HSA 150 R delivers strong, efficient cutting performance. It weighs just 4.7 kg (excluding the battery) and has a total length of 151 cm, providing extended reach for tall or wide hedges.
Operating at a sound pressure level of 85 dB(A) and a sound power level of 93 dB(A), the trimmer is quieter than many petrol alternatives. Vibration levels are kept low at 1.7 m/s² (left handle) and 2.1 m/s² (right handle), further enhancing user comfort. With the AP 200 S battery, users can expect up to 140 minutes of runtime on a single charge - more than enough for most professional tasks.
With the recommended AP 200 S battery you can get 100-150 minutes working time on a single charge. If you need longer, you can use the AP 300 S or AP 500 S batteries to extend the working time but be aware that this will increase the overall weight and affect the balance of the hedge trimmer.
CUTTING VARIATION (R)
The R variations of the STIHL hedgetrimmers are designed specifically for large volume cutting. They feature a cutting blade with wide tooth spacing and longer tooth height. ADAPTABLE SPEED. With the 3-level adjustable blade stroke rate, you can select the right blade speed for every task. You can easily adjust the hedge trimmer using the control cockpit on the rotatable multi-function handle. As the control cockpit rotates with the handle, the switch is always within easy reach, regardless of the handle position.

FOR SAFE TRANSPORT AND PROTECTED STORAGE. Transport and store your hedge trimmer and shrub shears safely and securely with the tailor-made blade scabbard.
TIP PROTECTOR
PREVENTS DAMAGE. The tip protector prevents damage to the blades. The tip protector also makes it easier to cut close to the ground or along walls.
SCREW-ON CUT PROTECTION
REDUCES THE RISK OF INJURY. Screw-on cut protection increases your safety, for example when trimming hedges. If the cut protection tip wears out, you can easily replace it.
EC MOTOR

TOOL MONITORING WITH THE SMART CONNECTOR
INTEGRATION INTO STIHL CONNECTED. The tool is compatible with the Smart Connector, meaning it can be integrated into the STIHL connected system. Once you have attached a Smart Connector to the tool, after one-time commissioning it will record the tool's operating hours and transmit them to the STIHL connected App via Bluetooth. In addition to displaying the operational time, the app also provides an overview of all necessary maintenance, ensuring that you do not overlook important upkeep and that your tool is always in a ready-to-use condition.
STIHL ANTI-VIBRATION SYSTEM
FOR MORE PLEASANT WORK. Vibrations can occur when you put your tools through their paces, and these are particularly noticeable in the grip area. The buffer and spring elements of the STIHL anti-vibration system reduce the transmission of engine vibrations to the handle area and therefore to your body. The result is that your tool is more comfortable to hold and your work is much less tiring.
