One of the best brand new features that really stands out to us is the improved clutch system - instead of the dog tooth transmission used in its predecessor, this new improved SP53H model features a smooth cone clutch transmission which means that the friction belt power transition has a lovely smooth take up of power - there’s no clunking or shunting, it just feels ultra smooth and powerful.
Considered a “high wheeler” thanks to its large, rugged 280mm rear wheels, this is a lawn mower that can tackle longer grass and medium/large sized gardens up to 50m x 50m. These wheels give the lawn mower a very purposeful look, and ensure a neat, smooth finish even on rougher terrain.
Being self-propelled you won’t need to exert any energy and so mowing the lawn will quite literally feel like a walk in the park. The Mountfield SP53H is incredibly easy to operate and you’ll find it’s easy to maneuver around garden obstacles such as trees and garden furniture. And being petrol-powered you won’t need to worry about working near a power source.
As every serious gardener knows, mulching is a fantastic way of improving the health of your lawn - it returns vital nutrients back to your grass and gives it a better chance of growing green and lush. So it’s great news that the Mountfield SP53H comes complete with a very efficient mulching system - the mulch plug is included too, so you’ll be all set to mulch should you wish to, right from day one.
Of course, as you would expect from a best selling machine such as this SP53H it draws its power from a premium Honda GCVx170 auto choke OHV engine that’s just as powerful as it is easy to start. And thanks to the auto choke, there’s no priming to be done by the user, just a simple recoil pull to bring this beautiful machine roaring to life.

You’ll appreciate the generous 51cm cutting width as you’ll make fewer passes on your lawn and therefore, you’ll be finished in no time. There’s a total of 6 cutting heights, changed via a single easy to use lever and these range from 22-65mm which means you’ll be able to achieve a neat and tidy lawn even if you started with wild, untidy grass. Thanks to the unique front anti-scalp combs this lawn mower won’t scalp the grass which is great news if you have a new lawn or if the ground is damp or soft.
The grass catcher has been carefully made from a special textile that allows the air flow to compact the collected grass to make the most of the space. The textile section takes up less space when in storage too. With 60 litres capacity you’ll have little to complain about as trips to the compost heap will be at an all time low which means you can work for longer with fewer interruptions. The bag itself is easy to empty and attach again and there’s even a full box indicator to remind you when it's time to empty it.
For your comfort, Mountfield have ergonomically designed the handlebars to be comfortable and easy to use - they also feature soft grips for your hands and are easy to fold down for increased storage options. On this new model there’s also a handy carry handle at the front of the machine for your convenience and for safer and easier transportation.

Mountfield’s hand-held range of garden machinery includes grass trimmers and brush cutters, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and chainsaws. They are all designed to be lightweight and easy to use. They are suitable for both domestic and professional users.
Mountfield have recently released their Freedom 48 range of cordless garden machinery. Once you have purchased a battery and a charger, you can use them for any of the product in the range as they all use the same battery.

Everything else - We charge a minimum rate of £29.00 for all Start 'N' Go orders which are being sent to UK mainland addresses (England, Wales and some Scottish addresses*).
Our premium Start 'N' Go+ service is available on certain products to most of England and Wales. Products that receive this service will be assembled, tested and personally delivered by one of our team on our own transport. We will also fully demonstrate the product for you. Delivery is usually 3-5 working days (if ordered Mon-Fri, stock permitting) but during quieter times this can be much sooner.
