Avoid unless you can do your own repairs. - Review by C A M

Powerful motor, which is about all I can say good about it. Engine came loose after first use and I had to find some new nuts for the engine bolts. Side chute fractured after a few mows and now the cheap fabric and plastic device that is supposed to keep the rear chute open has also rotted a, split and fallen off. Cheap foam on handlebar that looks like it came off a copper pipe in my loft, but is not lasting as long. This mower does not last long. (Posted on 01/11/2017)

Great machine, great after sales service - Review by Terence

Some have commented on the weight of this machine and it is heavy. But when using it the first time it feels so much better than those lightweights that have bounced around my lawn. The weight sometimes makes it a little awkward on the turn but I have a small-medium lawn and it should be fine on a medium lawn. As to not cutting the grass closely enough, I think the customer might be comparing the cut of an electric rotary to a petrol cylinder mower. The rotary is never going to cut as closely as a cylinder mower. I have used both and am quite happy at the cut this mower is giving in comparison to other rotary mowers. I might also mention that if you have any problem with your mower I can recommend the after sales service. I emailed them on Sunday thinking I had a problem and was telephoned on Monday morning. Great service. (Posted on 03/04/2017)
A lawm mower to choose - Review by David Pinnell

Ease of Use
Value for Money
To start with I'm going to be honest, I bought this mower because it was half the price of equivalent petrol mowers. I have a very very large garden, just under an acre, and I've been using the same petrol mower for the past 11 years before it finally died earlier this year. I simply did not have the cash to buy another petrol mower and so full of scepticism I bought the Cobra. What with one thing and another it was 7 weeks in peak growing time between the death of the old mower and the arrival of the Cobra by which time an elephant could have hidden in my garden unseen.

The Cobra was brilliant, ignoring warnings in the instruction book (not to cut long or wet grass, I was desperate) I went ahead. The mower performed perfectly, yes it took a bit of getting used to having a cord trailing behind me and yes the cord is a nuisance but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

For a start with such long grass and such a big garden I had to empty the very very large grass box on each single strip of mow. Straight away the advantages of not having to stop and recoil start my old petrol mower became obvious. In one part of my garden I have a lot of fruit trees and I quickly discovered another advantage, it cuts just as well being used out of 'drive' i.e pushing it rather than powering it, which meant that manoeuvring it around things was so much easer, in spite of the cord, than the old petrol mower which unless it was in 'drive' didn't cut very well and used to pull into things.

I also found that it does cut very low to the ground, in fact I did not need to use the lowest setting at all as at that level it tended to dig into the earth on bumpier bits of ground.

It seems to be of good quality and well built but of course I can't comment on that, only time will tell, will I be using it in 11 years time like my old petrol mower?

My only criticism of this mower would be that the grass box could be slightly higher of the ground, I found that on setting 2 when turning the box sometimes hit the ground and became detached.

Would I buy another one? Yes a whole hearted yes not just for this mower but anyone who has doubts about using a self propelled electric mower should try one, I personally won't be going back to petrol. The cord is annoying, but the advantages outweigh any disadvantages completely (Posted on 07/08/2016)
A lawn mower to avoid - Review by Peter M

Ease of Use

The mower seems to be robustly built and was relatively easy to assemble. It has a quality feel to it. However, it simply does not cut the grass closely enough - on the lowest setting it cuts very little grass and leaves the lawn looking as if it needs mowing! I am very dissatisfied. I have already spoken to Cobra and got no real response. Perhaps a spacer or washer could be used to lower the blades. Having used the mower twice since then I shall be contacting them again to seek a solution. (Posted on 21/06/2016)
