Top Chainsaws – Petrol, Electric or Battery?

course-banner01

Firstly, on behalf of all the staff here at Just Lawnmowers we would like to wish our customers new and old a Very Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! Here’s to 2017!

So it might be January and your garden may look windswept and dried up, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any jobs to do in the garden. Sorry about that! We suppose you could put them off for a bit to do something a bit more fun, and what could be more fun than investing in a powerful chainsaw this festive period?

Of course if you are planning on chainsawing some wood this Winter then it would be wise to invest in a saw horse. Here at Just Lawnmowers we have several to suit your pocket. Choose from a budget one such as the “The Handy Budget Saw Horse” priced at just £19.99 inc VAT or the “Stihl Metal Sawhorse” priced at just £80.00 inc VAT.

Nothing says Winter like a roaring fire, and a roaring fire needs feeding with wood. (We like to keep all the offcuts in a basket and when friends drop by we light the outside woodburner, the wife makes some mulled cider and we all stand around the fire and chat) But hey that’s life in the countryside! Maybe  not to everyone’s taste perhaps.

You, however may only want your wood used up indoors, and that’s fine. And if you want to make sure you are able to use up any spare wood that comes your way in whatever form you will certainly require the services of a decent chain saw. However, remember to only burn seasoned wood on your fire. And if you’re not sure if the wood you already have is seasoned, it’s best to leave it until next year.

Anyway, the usual question posed by people who want to buy a chainsaw is, what works best – petrol, electric or battery? Of course from a safety point of view you would be forgiven for thinking that only a battery operated one would offer you the ultimate in safety.

However, most petrol and electric models now offer all sorts of safety features such as being ergonomically designed to be easy to use. This can involve features such as being lightweight and evenly balanced to give the user more control over the chainsaw. Read on for the lowdown so you can use our expertise to judge for yourself which is the best type for your needs.

  1. Thanks for breaking down the differences between the three types. I think I’ll go with a battery-powered saw. I don’t like the smell of petrol and I often wander around while pruning in the garden.
