5 “must do” jobs in your garden before WINTER!

Most of us have taken the opportunity of the buzz around the 5th November to have our own bonfire and burn all the garden debris that we’ve spent the Autumn cutting back. There’s nothing quite like the smell of a garden fire on a misty, November morning to get you in the mood for the impending colder months.

There’s still quite a lot to do in our gardens at this time of year, so it’s time to roll up your sleeves and take care of those final jobs!

  1. Have a trim! This is a great time of year to properly have a good trim of those overhanging branches and overgrown shrubs. The lack of greenery gives you a great view of what needs cutting and there’ll be less to burn or dispose of as a result.

If you’ve got a smaller garden and you’ve still got bits to trim back then you might like to invest in this great Stihl MSA 120 C-B Compact Cordless Chainsaw. It’s ideal at pruning smaller branches and as it’s lightweight it’s really easy to use. Being cordless you won’t need to worry about electrical cables or filling with fuel. It’s quiet, fume free and you can expect a precise, clean and smooth cutting thanks to the low profile PM3 chain. And as it’s so quiet to use, you won’t need ear defenders! It’s the perfect tool to just grab at the last minute and get a few jobs done with the minimum of fuss. AND it comes in quite handy when you need to cut some wood – who doesn’t like a nice roaring fire on a cold Winter’s afternoon?!

Our price is just £169.00 RRP (£179.00 | SAVE £10) and we think it’s very reasonably priced and as with all Stihl products it’s built to last, so will give you years of reliable service.

  1. Tidy up your paths and patios! This is probably the last time you’ll want to pressure wash your patio or pathways – but if you’ve been hard at work trimming and cutting back in your garden there’s a high chance that your paving slabs are going to need more than a sweep.

If you’re looking for a top-of-the-range pressure washer then you should seriously consider the Stihl RE 130 Plus Pressure Washer (with Free RA90 Surface Cleaner). You can easily achieve a professional finish with this fantastic, premium pressure washer. It comes highly recommended by us and will definitely put the fun back into garden maintenance as you’ll be overjoyed at the results. It has a steel reinforced high pressure hose for durability and longevity and a comfortable grip handle. You’ll love the unique fan jet nozzle with pressure regulation which allows you to clean different types of surfaces quickly and effectively.

Our price is just £355.00 (RRP £409.00 | SAVE £54) and we think it will quickly become your favourite piece of garden machinery! It’s built for durability and backed up of course with a robust Stihl 2 year warranty.

  1. Tidy up those edges and around trees and garden furniture. This is a really important job to ensure your garden looks neat and tidy. There’s bound to be some stray grass that’s been left behind by that final cut by your trusty lawn mower.

If you need a helping hand with some stray grass or maybe you’ve finally moved your lawn furniture and don’t want the hassle of getting your lawn mower out? Well take a chance on the Mountfield MTR50LI Cordless Grass Trimmer (Power Unit). It’s lightweight and perfect for those smaller, final jobs before you settle down for the winter. It’s battery operated so if you’ve run out of fuel – who cares!? You can get the battery charged up in no time at all, start it up and you’re ready to go. 1. Get rid of those leaves! The bane of every gardener’s life at this time of year must be leaves on your lawn! They can turn a p[erfectly neat, manicured garden into an untidy, messy outdoor space and all in one afternoon.

Fear not! We’ve got this fab Stihl BG 56 C-E petrol leaf blower. 1. Probably one of the jobs you’d rather avoid – shredding! Not everything can go on the bonfire, and if you have a smaller garden or live in a built up area you may prefer not to burn your garden waste. But you can’t just leave it sitting around in your garden so why not opt to shred it? It’ll be gone and forgotten about in no time at all!

So you’ve decided you need to shred your excess garden trimmings. And that’s where the Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 Garden Shredder comes in! We love the Bosch powerdrive™ motor; it offers the HIGHEST torque in its class and seriously speeds up the time it takes to shred those large piles of garden debris. It can handle branch thicknesses of up to 1.6 inches/40mm. What are you waiting for? It’s a worthy investment and you’ll soon be left wondering how you ever coped without it! Buy it from us and you’ll even get a FREE collection bag, gardening gloves & goggles.

Our price for the tool only, is just £199.00 (RRP £249.99 | SAVE £51) and for the time it will save you, and the fact that it’s built to last you for many years we think it’s a great investment – and if we’re honest it’s actually quite fun and satisfying to use. It’s safe and easy to use and is perfect for when you’ve got a lot of stuff to get rid of in your garden.

When you’ve got your garden looking how you want it, why not invest in some bird feeders? And a water bath for the colder months ahead when little birds struggle to find food and water. You’ll be giving mother nature a helping hand and it will give you some pleasure to see the birds feeding and bathing. You may have a long list of repair jobs to be getting on with and it’s probably a good idea to get those out of the way before the really cold weather is upon us. If we have a nice sunny but chilly day then why not make the most of it and tidy out the shed? Whatever jobs lie ahead of you, we hope this blog has given you some useful ideas and inspired you to get your garden looking its best!
