Advantages of a Front-Deck Mower

When it comes to choosing a new ride-on mower or garden tractor, there are a few questions you need to ask yourself before-hand. Like what size deck you will need, whether or not you want mulching capabilities, and most importantly do you choose a front-mounted mower, or a mid-mounted mower.

There are many differences between front-mounted and mid-mounted ride-ons, with both options sporting a selection of pro’s and con’s.

Front deck mowerFront-deck lawn riders have the cutter deck placed where the operator can see it, as opposed to directly under the cockpit like a mid-mounted mower would. Placing the deck at the front has a multitude of advantages for both the user, and the over-all look of the lawn.

When the deck is front-mounted it produces the correct amount of air pressure beneath the housing, which provides a much smoother flow of any grass cuttings. The deck moves freely and independently from the tractor itself, to follow any ground contours and to minimize any turf scalping.

Front deckliftThe front-deck is excellent for any awkward corners or space-restricted areas that would defeat the conventional mid-mounted mower. It can reach under branches and hedges, and cuts perfectly under trees, reaching in tight spots and getting close up to the edge. It reduces bucket loads of time spent with a line trimmer afterwards.

You can create a truly superior finish with a front-deck lawn rider as the grass is not flattened prior to cutting, which is often the case with mid-mounted models.

All front-deck mowers which we sell at Just Lawnmowers have a spectacular, high quality lawn mulching system, which not only saves you plenty of time, but saves plenty of money as well! All grass clippings are eliminated, as they are sliced into the tiniest of particles and then fed back into the grass as a valuable soil fertiliser. It significantly reduces your mowing time as you no longer have to empty a full collection bag between mowing.

It features Stiga’s fantastic Multi-clip cutter deck, which provides great visibility, incredibly easy steering, and leaves a beautiful green finish to any lawn. It is priced at a competitive £2549.00, and has a lengthy 3 year warranty.

Mountfield 4155HAnother front-deck mower that we would recommend is the Mountfield 4155H ride-on mower. It also features hydrostatic transmission and features an incredibly powerful 500 cc Briggs & Stratton engine.
