Log splitters<\/em>\u00a0can make light work of chopping wood, provide you with improved safety, and reduce the physical strain of using an axe.<\/p>\n

There are two main types of log splitters, horizontal or vertical. These are available with either petrol driver engines or electric motors. You must also consider the wood you\u2019re planning to split; there are many different log splitters on the market… Ensure you get the right one for the job!<\/p>\n

Horizontal Log Splitters\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Horizontal log splitters are designed with most domestic home users in mind. If you\u2019re looking for a splitter to assist you in your daily needs to supply your wood burner or barbecue, then use a\u00a0horizontal\u00a0log splitter.<\/p>\n

Vertical Log Splitters\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vertical log splitters are for the more demanding user. They are capable of larger logs and as a result boast more splitting power.<\/p>\n

Electric Log Splitters<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most domestic horizontal log splitters are electrically powered due to ease of use, they require less maintenance. The down side is that they tend to have less splitting force and are limited to log size.<\/p>\n

The obvious main benefit to using an electric log splitter over a petrol one is noise pollution is dramatically reduced. If you do not want to upset your neighbours, electric may be for you.<\/p>\n

Petrol Log Splitters<\/strong><\/p>\n

Users who require a more powerful log splitter should opt for a petrol-driven one. They are more capable of larger logs and will generally cope with a larger work load that an electric one couldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

The down side of owning a petrol log splitter is the fact that they require a bit more maintenance than an electric one. If you have previous experience of maintaining petrol equipment such as chainsaws and lawn mowers, you shouldn\u2019t really have any issues looking after your petrol log splitter.<\/p>\n

Road Towed Log Splitters<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you need to transport your log splitter from place to place regularly but also require the full force of a powerful petrol machine, a road towed log splitter may be for you. Usually designed with a professional user in mind, they do require more maintenance as you\u2019ve essentially purchased a trailer as well which is required to be road legal.<\/p>\n
